New Chandigarh, October 6: Punjab FC’s senior team returned to action for the first time since the Durand Cup and marked the occasion with a spirited 2-1 comeback win over Namdhari FC in a friendly encounter played at the Namdhari Football Ground, Sri Bhaini Sahib, on Sunday.
The match began with both sides showing intent, but clear chances were few and far between in a tightly contested first half. Punjab FC looked to control possession through their midfield, while Namdhari stayed organised and threatened on the counter.
The breakthrough came in the 65th minute when Guilherme put Namdhari FC ahead, finishing neatly to silence the home supporters. The setback spurred Punjab FC into action as they raised the tempo and pushed bodies forward in search of an equaliser.

Namdhari FC attempted to claw their way back into the game, but Punjab FC’s defence stayed solid in the closing stages to secure the victory.

For the Shers, the performance not only underlined their resilience but also showed the depth in their squad, with senior players and youngsters combining effectively to produce a strong result.
