Punjab FC continued their resurgence in the 39th Punjab State Super Football League 2025-26 with a confident 3-0 victory over Young FC at their home ground in New Chandigarh on Saturday. The win, their second in a row, underlined the Shers’ intent to bounce back strongly after a disappointing start to the campaign.

The first half saw both teams test each other’s defensive lines but without much success in the final third. Punjab FC dominated possession and created a few promising openings, but Young FC stood firm to ensure the scoreline remained goalless at the interval.

The breakthrough finally arrived on the hour mark when Abhishek Rattu latched on to a through ball and finished with composure to put the hosts ahead. The goal lifted the Shers’ tempo, and they pressed higher up the pitch, forcing Young FC onto the back foot. Their persistence paid off again in the 70th minute, when Bishu Sharma doubled the lead with a neat finish after some clever build-up play. Sharma capped off a fine individual performance with his second of the evening in the 87th minute, sealing a comfortable win for the hosts and delighting the home crowd.

The result marks Punjab FC’s second straight win following their 2-0 victory over International FC earlier in the week. It also showcased the team’s growing confidence and sharpness in attack, after their campaign-opening 1-3 defeat against Dalbir FC. With back-to-back clean sheets and six goals scored in two matches, the Shers look to be finding their rhythm at just the right time.

Punjab FC will now aim to carry this momentum forward as they continue their league campaign, with fans hopeful that the side’s consistency and attacking flair will keep them in contention at the top of the table.
